What does it mean to be a certified B Corp events agency?

Certified B Corporations are companies verified by B Lab to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. Our business practices are certified on environmental, social, and governance standards, and verified by an independent third party.

As a Certified B Corporation, we’re proud to be part of a community of companies working together for change, and taking part in collective action to advocate for a shared goal of a global economy that benefits people and the planet.

Why choose a B Corp events agency?

A B corp event agency meets B Lab’s integrated social, environmental, and governance standards. We embeds purpose and plans for positive impact in our company DNA, so that we’re aware of our impact on people and the planet. We’re mindful of how our business impacts people—not just employees—and this responsibility is embedded in our culture and ways of working, including a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

  • B Corps are 3.1 times more likely to measure their social and environmental performance through defined KPIs, compared to ordinary businesses (B Lab Global 2024 Annual Report, published 2025).
  • B Corps are 3.7 times more likely to embed social and environmental goals in key decisions, compared to ordinary businesses (B Lab Global 2024 Annual Report, published 2025).
  • B Corps are 49% more likely to give customers access to information about sourcing of suppliers, including their location, compared to ordinary businesses (B Lab Global (2022) B Impact Assessment, version 1.6).
What is B Lab?

B Lab™ is the global organization behind B Corp Certification. B Lab creates standards, policies, tools, and programs that shift the behavior, culture, and structure of capitalism, and mobilizes collective action to address society’s most critical challenges.

B Lab™ began in 2006 with the idea that a different kind of economy was not only possible – it was necessary. B corp founders believed there was a better way to do business: better for workers, better for communities, and better for the planet. Their collective experience as entrepreneurs, operators, and investors had shown them that business was responsible for many of the social and environmental problems we face, but that it also has a unique opportunity to address these same challenges at scale.

B Lab became known for certifying B Corporations™, companies that meet verified standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. But they do much more than that.

How do you become a B Corp?

B Corp certification is awarded to companies that use business as a force for good, demonstrating that people and planet matter as much as profit. Certification is administered by B Lab, the not-for-profit behind the global movement, who conduct an in-depth review of the applicant’s business.

To become certified, applicants must score at least 80 out of 200 points on the B Impact Assessment having met rigorous social and environmental standards. Certified B Corps are reassessed every three years across all categories, to retain their status (Broadsword scored 90.6).

What areas does B Corp certification measure?

What’s the B Corp buzz?

B Corp is a movement that now spans over 10,000 B Corps across 160 industries on six continents, collectively employing more than 1 million people—and growing. B Corps represent a growing movement of change makers collectively working together towards a common goal of doing business better.

Consumers and employees alike are increasingly looking for businesses that align with their values, and B Corp certification acts as a visible marker of a company’s commitment to sustainability and social good. In the US, half of consumers under 25 are aware of B Corps (B Lab (2024) B Corp Brand Awareness Report) and 85% of those aware of B Corp Certification say it influences their purchasing decisions (B Lab (2024) B Corp Brand Awareness Report).

Broadsword became a B Corp to make a positive difference, considering people and planet alongside profit in every business decision we make. It signifies everything that is important in our agency culture and aligns perfectly with our mission and values.

Why do B Corps matter?

The world’s biggest challenges, like inequality, climate change, and systemic injustice, cannot be solved by governments or nonprofits alone. B Corps harness the power of business to create a global network that transforms the economy. By putting people and the planet alongside profit, they positively impact all stakeholders – workers, communities, customers, and our planet.

What does the B in B Corp stand for?

B stands for “benefit”—for people and the planet, not just shareholders.

What is Broadsword's mission?

Broadsword’s mission is to empower the right to speak and be heard, creating events and experiences that inspire positive change.

We’re led by the belief that events have the power to inspire audiences and drive conversations, and be a catalyst for good.

As a B Corp, this mission is embedded into everything we do and, as we move forward we stand committed to using our business as a force for good driving lasting, positive change in the events industry and our world.

How does Broadsword create socially responsible and sustainable events?
As a global events agency we are determined to leave behind a positive impact, not a footprint. With a clear purpose and a bold, forward-thinking approach, we’re carving a unique path in the events industry – committing to create positive impact from every event we work on.
We have dedicated sustainability and inclusion teams spearheading innovation in our CSR practices and actively working with clients to share data and research driven insights. As a B Corp, we put this into practice in our own operations – offsetting 100% of our carbon emissions and working with social enterprises, fellow B Corps, and sustainable suppliers for our own internal events calendar.
What is an impact report?

Larger B Corps are required to publish an annual impact report to share the company’s progress towards its social and environmental performance yet all B Corps are encouraged to publish reports as good practice — it keeps you accountable and transparent, and reaffirms your commitment to continuous improvement.

Included is progress against all relevant measures of the company’s social and environmental performance and a summary of stakeholder engagement processes, what concrete actions the company has taken , and the management strategies the company is using to achieve its social and environmental goals and its progress towards them
