Empowering events industry talent with EVCOM's Realise Award

Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen and a push in the right direction.” John C. Crosby

EVCOM represents the corporate events and corporate film industries. Championing and promoting creativity, production values and effectiveness, the association supports this vibrant community to facilitate the sharing of ideas and best practice.

Engagement of the next generation of event organisers is an essential part of EVCOM’s work towards a more diverse and inclusive sector.

This year EVCOM launched The Realise Award, an award for young people currently working in or aspiring to work in, the events industry. Open to 18–25 year olds with a passion for the sector, the award offers mentorship opportunities from top corporate event companies. The winner will work with four mentors over the course of a year, receiving advice, support and shadowing opportunities with each.

All shortlisted entrants will also win a mentorship conversation with one of the mentors!

Broadsword’s very own Managing Director, Anna Green, will be taking on the role as one of these inaugural mentors, offering her time and expertise to the next generation of events professionals.

Anna says, I’ve had a lot of guidance and coaching throughout my career, which has been invaluable for the success of my business and for my own professional development. Being with people who empower you to be your authentic self is so important. Caring for Broadsword’s people is my mission and bringing out the best in each and every person is rooted in our success, creating a healthy, open and caring environment where a diverse group can thrive. I would love the opportunity to extend the support I offer further afield.”

The events industry can be hard to break into for young people, especially those from a diverse background. EVCOM hopes this competition can serve as a way in, a chance to get demonstrable experience and access to the expertise of current event professionals. Anna is delighted to be involved.
