Meet Broadsword's New Team Members

News
Broadsword is growing, with two new team members joining our agency. We’re excited to welcome both Matt Darby and Becki Kemp and their wealth of knowledge and experience to our team.

Matt will be joining us as a Senior Event Producer, responsible for overseeing the full event lifecycle for a range of conferences, exhibitions, and corporate events.

Matt will be joining us as a Senior Event Producer, with eighteen years’ agency background working with Grassroots, Imagination and most recently, Identity. Matt brings a wealth of experience to Broadsword, having previously worked as a Project Lead for the Ukraine Recovery Conference 23 and Budget Manager for the UK’s first Artificial Intelligence Safety Summit at Bletchley Park.

Becki will be joining Broadsword’s commercial team as a Senior Account Manager and will be a lead client contact, managing new event enquiries, project deliverables and budget management.

With over 13 years in the events industry, Becki has significant experience in leading client communication as an Account Manager. Her experience spans large conferences and incentive travel, taking the lead on contract tenders for clients such as the Greater London Authority and UK Space Agency.

We asked them both some questions to get to know them a little better:

1 – What made you excited or want to work with Broadsword?

Matt: I was excited to join a fast-growing event communications agency with a great team culture, and can’t wait to meet the team in full and get stuck in!

Becki: Having worked with Public Sector clients for a while now, I am excited to get back to my corporate roots and work in new locations including New York and Hong Kong. The agency’s ethos seems extremely refreshing and welcoming, and I look forward to being part of a great team.

2 – What did you do before coming to Broadsword?

Matt: My role prior to joining Broadsword was a Senior Project Manager at Identity, where I was project lead on the Ukraine Recovery Conference 23, and budget manager on the AI Safety Summit at Bletchley Park. In the small onboarding gap between the two roles, I started studying my Prince2 7 qualification, and passed the Foundation exam last Monday!

Becki: Previously I worked at Identity as Account Manager on multiple Public Sector accounts and supported with the successful tenders for a number of new contracts.

3 – What is a proud career moment for you?

Matt: Complex Auto Show deliveries across Europe for Jaguar Land Rover and delivering the best URC the Ukraine Government has ever delivered’.

Becki: In 2023 I supported with the guest registration for the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla onsite at Westminster Abbey. It was a privilege to be part of such a monumental event and one that I won’t forget.

4 – What would your advice be to someone who is interested in a similar career path or who wants to work in your field?

Matt: The devil is in the detail’ and strive to be the most positive person on site, at all times!

Becki: Attend industry events and build up your connections. Stay in the know with current and future trends and share this knowledge with your clients to keep events fresh and progressive.
